She shook her head. "Nothing of the sort. To be truthful, they left before I did. It was only a matter of time before I followed..."

"Oh, then that's alright," he said, a smile quickly returning to his face. "To tell you the truth, I've often wanted to run away, but I'm not terribly clever, so I doubt I could pull it off. They'd bring me back, for sure."

Door bit her lip and grinned. "I doubt my parents want me back. I'm too much of a 'bad example' for their friends...Heaven forbid they get a bad public image."

"Mine are just the opposite. They want to exploit me to as many rich families as possible and get me married off." he sighed.

"They should meet. That would be quite the party..." Door tried to change the subject at the phrase 'married off', and busied herself with tidying the output fire.

He laughed, "I'm really not like either of my parents...y'know, in case you've met them." he cringed, "I didn't want you to get the wrong idea about me based on them..."

"No, no, I assure you, I don't think you're anything like your parents. I think you're--" She froze, then chose her words carefully. "I think you're a...a very respectable young man."
Phew. That was a bit too close.

He smiled. "Thank you, Miss van Foyer. The feeling is mutual."

He paused, "That's not to say I find you man-like. I...didn't mean it like that. My apologies." Alex fretted.

Door cracked a smile. "I knew what you meant," she reassured. "No apologies needed."

He sighed, "I'm not the most eloquent guy in Hyrule, but we've established that." he said. "Why don't you tell me about yourself? What made you all decide to leave, exactly."

"My family and I haven't exactly seen eye to eye," admitted Door, sitting down in the tall grass that hid her so well. "My brothers had had enough of it, and decided to leave. I was a bit too young tyhjen, but when my birthday rolled around, I was out the door." She laughed at her usage of words. "I've been out here since."

"And how long has that been?" he inquired.

She tilted her head to the side, thinking back. "Oh, let's see...I left the day after the function at the Castle, which was a good...goodness, it couldn't have been that long ago...but, yes...I'd say an even ten months."

He nodded, thoughtful. "So that's why the van Foyers haven't been attending many socials..."

She grinned. "Yep. That'd be it."
