Alexander kicked a stone across the lawn, sighing forcefully as he strode through the wrought iron gates of his father's estate.

They'd had another falling out, and he needed to calm his nerves...often, he went for walks through the town...but today, he decided to explore a bit of Hyrule Field.

Maybe the serenity would rub off on him.

There was nothing like toasting apples on a cool summer afternoon. An open fire pit, a basket of apples, and one content, runaway, diswoned, adolescent girl.

Door blew on her apple, cooling it before biting into it and munching happily. Nope. Nothing better.

Alexander watched his feet, not where he was going, as he picked his way through the field. There was just no reasoning with his father...

Well, okay. Maybe there were better things.
Like company, for instance.
Door had abandoned her brother a while back, and hadn't felt the pangs of lonliness until now. She thought that she could make it alone, and she could...
...for the most part...
She considered opening a door back into the Town, just to see what was going on, but thought better of it. Mom or Dad might be there...yeah, might as well stay here...

At that moment, Alexander tripped over something and toppled over with an amazing display of grace, limbs, and yelps.

He looked up to see just what in the world he'd stumbled on...it was...a leg?

No, not just a leg. The leg was attached to someone. He glanced up, bewilderment marking his face. "Oh, I'm sorry, Miss." he said, "My apologies"!

Door picked herself up from the ground and dusted herself off. "Nah, no problem, really. I shouldn't have been hidden in the gr--" she raised her head and looked at him, recognition stirring. Wasn't he one of the other nobility in Hyrule...?
She blinked, standing up hastily. "My apologies, sir."

Gosh, where had the manners come from?

He leapt to his feet and bowed quickly, aplogizing with new vigor, "Miss van Foyer! I'm terribly sorry! Truly! I should have watched where I was going..."

God! His father would have his head if he heard of this...he had to make sure she wasn't going to tell him. His stomach knotted up. 'Stupid. I'm so so so so so stupid.'

She shook her head. "No, don't be sorry, Sir Vanderpuye. The fault was mine. I shouldn't have--" A puff of smoke caught her eye, and she looked down.
Her traveling cloak was aflame!!

His eyes grew wide, and without thinking, he leapt toward her, intent on beating the fire out.

Landing awkwardly on Door, he suffocated the flames with his gloved hands. "Miss! Miss! Are you alright?"

Only after the flames had been extinguished did he realize his compromising position.

'OH God...I'm in for it now...'

He jumped up in a second flat, helping her to her feet, "Ohhh, I must beg your pardons! A thousand pardons! I fear I've tarnished your honor."

He got down on his knee, bowing his head.

Door scrambled to her feet, a flush coloring her cheeks. "Th-think nothing of it, sir. I thank you." She watched him warily, waiting for another ungraceful move.

His face broke into a grin, and he sprang to his feet, beaming. "Aha! I'm not going to be disowned...today, at least." he said with a sheepish, impish smile.

He paused, "Miss, what do you mean you won't set foot in town?"

"You speak of being disowned, but I have nearly disowned myself. To set foot in town would mean going back to a life for which I have no interest in." She raised her chin, staring at him half-defiantly, half-proud, expecting him to say something about it.

"But...what about your family? Correct me if I'm wrong, Miss, but you have two brothers, I believe. Forgive my impertinence but...isn't leaving them behind a tad bit selfish?"
