Portal Zero: Earth

Jeremy coughed, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose. "Three-eights...divided by the quantity of three-x times fourteen..." His pencil flew across the paper, making the equation seem like child's play. "Hah. Take that, Mr. Pagel...no teacher can outmath the superior Jeremy..."

Jeremy paused, hearing something scratching at the warehouse door above him, and a commanding voice. "Oh, my...this can't be good." He stood and ascended the stairs, biting his lip. "Police? The school? Someone who found out about the Comp? This can't be good..."

"Yeah, yeah...keep your uniform on," Jerm mutters, figuring it's a cop with a drug-dog or something like that. He climbs to th ground floor and makes his way to the door. Swinging the door open a crack, he speaks without really seeing the one outside. "Can I help you?"

"Eh?" Hearing his name asked for especially makes him focus a bit more. "Who's asking?" He peers through the ajar door, but sees no one at eye level.

"Eclipse?" What, is this some...radical seventies chick?
He opens the door further. "Um..alright. What do you need Jeremy for?" No need to give my name right off the bat...

"Yo, Jeremy?" Marie called from upstairs. "We got any orange juice?"

Since she'd met Cat and Jerm, Marie had practically taken up residence in the second floor of the old hideout.

Her mom, thrilled that she actually found some friends, didn't object to the teen spending her free time outside the house. It was good for her, she'd figured. And Marie, equally thrilled to have said friends, spent every waking moment she could with them.

After school, she went straight there, and left just in time to get home and get ready for bed.

And now, as she sat on the wooden floor, writing Geography definitions on a crumpled sheet of notebook paper, had a hankering for something citrus-y.

"Cuz, y'know. I bought some. You and cat drink it all, already?"

His eyes go wide as he finally lays eyes on Eclipse and he gulps, inwardly cursing Marie. "Uh, okay, then. How exactly am I going to do that?" Then, to Marie: "Look in the door of the fridge. I put it there so Cat's fish wouldn't stink it up."

[Heh. We have a mini-frige now.]

Truth be told, the poor kid was scared out of his wits. "This place? I don't know why that would be...there's nothing special about this old dump." Still on his guard.

Jeremy stares, mouth agape as the wolf pushes past him. "Uh...okay."

[[Nope. That's downstairs. The first room is just your basic-looking run-down shack of a living room]]

"'Kay, thanks Jerm." Marie called, practically sliding down the banister on her way down the stairs

She slipped awkwardly on the floor, her socks not providing her with adequate friction. Regaining her composure, she pretended to skate to the mini-fridge, humming contentedly.

Marie opened the door, reached inside, and weighed the carton in her hand. "Dang. We went through this fast," she commented, unscrewing the lid, "Mind if I just finish it off?"

Marie looked up.

And then she stopped. Stared. Cocked her head to one side.

"...Who's that?"

Jerm made an 'How should I know?' face and grinned nerously. "Uhm...Marie, this is...Eclipse. She just kinda...showed up."

Marie set the juice back on the counter, forgotten.

"...What...she a hippie or something?"

She quickly recovered, "Not that there's anythig wrong with hippies. They're great...umm...peace, love, and crabs?" she offered.
